When you are having a wedding or renewal of vows on a Sarasota County beach or in a Sarasota County park, you need to get "an event permit" also known as "a beach wedding permit".  Why?  Because you are conducting "personal business" on property managed or maintained by the Sarasota County Parks and Recreation Department.

Permit can be obtained via the Parks and Recreation Department.  Call 941-861-7275, Monday - Friday, 830AM - 4PM.  You can obtain a permit over the phone with a credit card.

Before you call the Parks and Recreation Department, you will need to know the date of your ceremony, the time of your ceremony, the exact location of your ceremony and approximately how many people will be participating or attending this event.  You will also be asked if you plan to set up an archway and/or chairs or decorate the area.

The photo above is Reserve Site # 1 at Venice Beach, Venice, FL.  This ceremony took place at 9AM on a Sunday morning.
