Just recently a new Bride and her Mother were on the Judge Judy Show. The Bride and her Mother were suing the Groom, who left the Bride after three weeks of marriage, because he failed to contribute to the wedding expenses, he failed to repay an automobile loan to the Bride's Mother, and he took half of the wedding gifts when he left.
So, the question of the week is . . Do you think that Groom should pay the Bride's Mother for one half of the wedding expenses and he is entitled to one half of the wedding gifts?

Traveled to the awesome Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village in St Augustine this past weekend (August 20 through August 22). On a scale of 1 to ten this hotel/resort is an 11! My purpose in visiting this resort was to attend the Association of Bridal Consultants Southeast Regional Fall Meeting entitled "Exploring the Past, Building the Future." One of my dearest ABC friends, Sandee Monahan presented "Etiquette and Service Revival." The next ABC Regional Fall Meeting will take place in the Pensacola, FL area.
And if you ever travel to the Renaissance Resort make sure you try one of their delicious "pancake size" cookies. The chocolate chip cookie was perfectly baked and crispy.

Attended the Weddings of Venice meeting at Bentley's Resort Hotel is Osprey. Discussed the upcoming bridal and fashion show on September 19, 2010. Going to have a Lady Gaga impersonator, two fashion shows, and a dance demonstration. Lots of excitement.
Attended the Chamber of Commerce's Wake-up Venice breakfast meeting at Windsor of Venice (senior care center) this morning. Pat Kozlowski and I distributed the WOV bridal show flyers. Tasted cheese blintzes for the first time. They were topped with a warm strawberry sauce. Delicious This facility just opened in January. Very, very nice!!

The history of the Engagement
At one time the engagement was just as important the wedding itself. Anglo-Saxons were used to stealing away their brides-to-be. Romance, wooing, and engagements were not in the picture. But the families of the women insisted on being reimbursed for what was, after all, a working member of the family. The engagement signified the intended transfer of ownership from Father to Husband and also provided a period during which the "the bride's price" could be agreed upon.
Several centuries later the situation was in reverse and Fathers were paying future sons-in-law, or their families, a "dowry" to marry off their daughters. The engagement was again a time for agreeing on the payment, or dowry, and also a time for collecting an extravagant trousseau, at least for rich brides.

Lessons of the Heart
Love is not the rock on the finger of the girl you plan to marry
It is the size of the boulder you move to repair the marriage.
Love is not the fairy tale that ends with happily every after
It is the hand that wipes away the tears.
Love is not in the spotlight
It is waiting in the shadows.
Love is not winning the argument
It is listening with an open heart.
Love is not flowers or candy
It is truth and honesty.
Love is not the ease of the quest
It is the commitment to the relationship.
Love is not expensive restaurants
It is the sacrifice made to feed a child.
Love is not the dream come true
It is chasing nightmares away.
Love is not the success of money
It is the failure to find fault.
Love is not sweet nothings whispered in the ear
It is accepting the thoughts of others.
Love is not the latest ballad on the radio
It is the song of a lifetime.

Come on down! Went to the beautiful Siesta Key Beach yesterday. The water was soooooo warm, at least 80 degrees. Thousands of people on the beach. Hundreds of people enjoying the drum circle as the sun was setting. There's nothing like a golden sunset on the Siesta Key Beach. What a great place to have a romantic wedding ceremony! Come for a day, come for a weekend, come for a week.
