Question from a Bride and Groom . .
Will I need to know the date of my divorce when I get my Marriage License?
Response . .
Yes, you will. The Marriage License application will ask you if you have been married previously. The application will also ask you what number marriage is this, how did the marriage end (death, divorce or annulment) and the date of your divorce (month, day and year).
If you do know know the date of your divorce, you can get obtain that information from
www.vitalrecords.us.com/divorce-records.html
I strongly suggest getting a paper copy of this information and putting this information with your other "important" papers.

Question from a Bride and Groom
We were just offered a significant savings at a resort on a "three day holiday weekend deal" if we have the ceremony and reception on a Sunday rather than Saturday. Should we accept this deal?
Response . .
You, the Bride and Groom, will probably save some money BUT your overnight guests won't. Most resorts have a mandatory "two night stay" on three day holiday weekends. I suggest investigating the overnight rates of other close-by hotels and motels for that three day holiday before you sign a wedding day contract.

Whether it be a contract with a caterer or a videographer or a florist or a guitaris or any other type of wedding vendor, DON'T sign a contract or an agreement that is too vague. Specific details and information should be stated such as starting time, ending time, the payment terms, the over time charges and what service is being made.
And never sign a contract that has wrong or incorrect information on it.

Question from a Bride and Groom
Is it OK to just serve one bottle of wine on the dinner table rather than two?
Response . .
Champagne is a versatile beverage. It's perfect to serve at a wedding when dishes of all flavors are being tasted. Because the taste of champagne is "clean" and ""fresh", it is the one beverage that can accommodate the various foods that will be served at a dinner or wedding reception.
And, yes, there are many bottles of champagne that cost less than $20 per bottle.

Question from a Bride and Groom . .
Can a notary public just sign our marriage license with conducting a ceremony?
Response . .
NO NO NO . . When a member of the clergy or a notary public or a court appointed clerk signs a Marriage License they are certifying that they conducted a marriage ceremony. When a couple asks someone to "just sign" their Marriage License they are asking that person to do something inappropriate and unethical.

Don't create a wedding for others at the expense of your wishes. Focus on the kind of celebration you want, not the one other people expect you have.
In other words, if you are NOT the type of person to wear a ball gown and full length lace veil then DON'T BUY ONE just to please your Mother or Grandmother. Your wedding gown should make you happy!

Question from a Bride and Groom . .
What is a "Reaffirmation" ?
Response . .
When a couple is married in a civil ceremony they seek to have a religious blessing of their marriage at a later date. A reaffirmation is NOT a wedding ceremony, just a blessing. The guest list is usually limited to immediate family members and a few close friends. A meal or some type of celebration usually follows the reaffirmation. Guests are usually invited by word of mouth or by printed or handwritten invitation.

I believe . .
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.
And this applies to Brides and Grooms.
How do they treat their parents?
How do they treat the people in their wedding party?
How do their treat their family members?
How do they treat their vendors and service personnel?

For Your Information . .
You should not have a punch and wedding cake reception at Noon or at 5PM or 6PM. Your wedding guests are expecting lunch at Noon and dinner at 5 or 6PM.
I once knew of a Bride who got married in one state and then asked her guests to pay a toll to go over a bridge to another state to her wedding reception. The ceremony took place at 3PM, the wedding reception started at 5PM. Cookies, wedding cake and iced tea were served. The guests were expecting dinner.

What is a consumption bar? And is it a good idea?
Response: With this type of bar, you are only billed for the alcohol consumed by your guests. It's only a good idea when your guests drink a low cost beverage like beer.
