V is for Queen Victoria
When Queen Victoria got married she started the trend of wearing a white bridal gown.
U is for Uncle
If the Bride's Father is deceased or not available, the Bride's Uncle can walk her down the aisle and/or give her away.
T is for Tuxedo
A Tuxedo is formal wear and it should look like formal wear. Take the time to go to a men's formal wear store to get ideas and advice and a proper fitting. Many years ago I conducted a wedding for a couple who put their wedding day attire at the bottom of the priority list. This Groom's tuxedo did not fit properly and it was very wrinkled.
S is for Seamstress
Unless you are a professional seamstress or a professional dressmaker, I do not recommend hemming or altering your own bridal gown. Many years ago, I had a Bride tell me that she and her sister hemmed her bridal gown with glue the night before her wedding because she kept putting off contacting a professional to do that. As the Bride walked down the aisle, it was obvious that something was wrong with the hemline.
R is for Registry
I have been asked many times if it is appropriate for a couple to open a Gift Registry if they have been previously married. If there are items that neither of you have, but like to have, then, of course, list those items. The items that you select should pertain to both of you as a couple or as a family. On more than one occasion I have been asked if it's appropriate to list items that are specific to a child or children, and the answer is "No".
Q is for Quaker Wedding Ceremony
A Quaker Wedding Ceremony is similar to Quaker church service. It is a simple ceremony that is led by the Bride and Groom and supported by a few friends, relatives or church members.
Barbara Ulrich and John Veselka Jr. were joined in matrimony on the 18th of January.
Q is for Queen
There are traditionally four sizes of beds and mattresses - twin size, double or full size, queen size and king size. Most newlyweds purchase a queen or king size.
Elizabeth A Higgins and Eric J Malle were joined in matrimony on the 15th of January.
Jennifer A Heinley and Franklin B Davis were joined in matrimony on the 13th of January.
P is for Pasta
Yes, it is okay to have a Pasta Station at your reception. A variety of pasta sauces will make your guests happy.
O is for Office Supplies
Did you know that a lot of your wedding paper trousseau (invitations, envelopes, Thank You notes, etc) can be obtained at or through at an Office Supply Store.
N is for New family
When you get married you will probably inherit "a new family". If it is possible, both families should meet before the wedding ceremony. I once married a Bride and Groom who dated all through high school and three years afterwards and neither family met the other family.
M is for Make-up
If you are planning on having your make-up done professionally on your wedding day then you should have a practice session about 7 - 10 days before your wedding day.
L is for Life Insurance
If you have life insurance, then you need to change it or update it after your wedding ceremony. Your Insurance Agent may ask for a copy of your Certificate of Marriage (the official and legal proof of your marriage).
And if you do not have life insurance, then you need to get some because your spouse needs to be protected. And once again, your may be asked for a copy of your Certificate of Marriage.
Melissa F Darrah and Christopher L Scaramuzzino were married on the 3rd day of January.
L is for Label Machine
I do not recommend using a label machine for mailing out invitations. Invitations are considered social events not a business transaction.
Amanda Geiser and Dustin Hartman were joined in matrimony on the first day of the year, January 1.
