The engaged couple should NOT host (plan, organize and pay for) their own engagement party unless there are no other alternatives. An engagement party should be hosted by the young lady's parents, and if they are not available, then the Groom's parents or a member of his family.
An engagement party should be scheduled within four to six weeks of the proposal, not months later.
An engagement party is not a gift giving event. If you wish to give the engaged couple something, it should be small or minimal or cost less than $25.
The engaged couple should not participate in a bridal registry until after the engagement party has taken place.
