D is for Dinnerware. Before you walk into a department store or a speciality store that has a huge assortment of glassware, silverware and dinnerware, you should have a very good idea of whether you plan on having one set or two sets of dinnerware. One would be earmarked "for everyday" and the other set would be used for semi-formal and formal entertaining. And if you only plan to register for or purchase one set of dinnerware, then this set should be durable enough for daily use, and yet, sophisticated enough for the Thanksgiving dinner table.
The bridal magazines are filled with advertisements from bridal registry stores and manufactures of dinnerware. Start your research with the internet and the bridal periodicals so you have a very good idea of what a "five piece place setting" looks like or how various types of dinnerware are sold.
