If you ceremony is taking place "on the beach" make sure your wedding guests know that by either making a notation on the bottom of the invitation or stating that information in a wedding newsletter or by word of mouth. Just recently, I performed a ceremony on the beach, I was truly amazed how many ladies were wearing high heels when they got out of their cars and headed to the ceremony site.
It was very obvious by some of the comments that I heard, that a "beach ceremony" was a surprise to the wedding guests. I also suggest providing some flip flops for your guests plus a walkway in the sandy area.
