Your bridal registry should reflect your present lifestyle, not something you think you'll do or use. If you love to "fix things up" then registering for tools is appropriate. If you just bought a home or plan to purchase a home in the future then registering for tools is appropriate.

Question from a Bride and Groom . .
Where can we find a hotel that is pet friendly in the Wilmington, NC area? We are getting married in that area.
Response . .
The Comfort Suites Magnolia Greens in Leland, NC is pet friendly. This hotel is located near historical Wilmington, NC. Why don't you try to incorporate taking a ride on the Henrietta III Riverboat or riding in a horse drawn carriage at sunset as part of your wedding activities? Both of these activities are available near this hotel.

Another reason to get married in Sarasota County, Florida . . Siesta Key Beach
Siesta Key Beach is recognized as having the "whitest and finest sand in the world." The Siesta Key Public Beach extends along a half-mile of the most pristine white sands in the world. The pure quartz pulverized to a fine powder, has a magical quality. There is no sand quite like this, anywhere. Even under the burning subtropical sun, it feels cool to the touch. Siesta Key Beach was recognized as the Number 1 beach in the US by the Travel Channel.

http://seatguru.com (by Trip Advisor) notes the airplane seats that cost an extra fee. They also note what seats have the most (or the least) legroom. So, if you are travelingwith someone six foot or taller checking legroom may be a priority before you make airplane reservations, especially on a long flight.

Before you buy travel insurance from a cruise line or travel agency check out InsureMyTrip.com.
http://www.insuremytrip.com gives you the opportunity to compare policies, plans and prices from many insurance companies. I have never purchased travel insurance BUT I may seriously consider buying it the next time I go far, far away. Why? Because both of my extra large suitcases were damaged at the port, and I will probably have to replace them.

How to Sort . . Slide . . Seal . . and Send Your Invitations
There they are, stacks and stacks of wedding invitations. Put all those pristine pieces of paper together by following these seven simple steps to invitation insertions.
Place the tissue paper on top of the invitation lettering. (A tasteful tradition from a time, long ago, when ink might smudge.)
Lay the reception card on top of the tissue.
Place the reception card on top of the tissue.
Place any other inserts on top of the reception card according to their size. Slip this whole enclosure ensemble into an ungummed envelope. Make sure that the text is facing the flap.
Write the guests' names on the ungummed envelope face.
Insert the ungummed envelope into an outer gummed envelope. Make sure the names you just inscribed face the outer envelope flap.
Address the outer envelope face (in black ink), seal it, and then go to the post office.
The Number 1 mistake made when addressing invitations is when the phrase "and Guest" is used. You should make a genuine effort to find out the name of who your cousin Mary Smith is bringing to your ceremony and reception so that person's name can be put on the invitation envelope and reception place card. People do not like being referred to as "and Guest."

Question from a Bride and Groom . .
What are some of the first things that we need to do if we are having an outdoor wedding next spring at a family member's home?
Response . .
Determine how many guests you plan to invite, the formaility of your wedding, and the time of the event so when you meet with service providers or vendors you will be able to answer several questions. Determine if there is enough "flat land" for a tent or canopy. Determine how many bathrooms are in the house and how many you will need to rent (two bathrooms serves 35 guests). Determine if any outside maintenance is needed (painting, trimming shrubbery, updating outdoor furniture, replacing torn or broken items, etc). Determine where you plan to park the cars and what other parking areas are available if you do not have enough room to park all the cars expected. Determine if all of your guests will fit in the house if it is impossible to have the ceremony and/or reception outside due to heavy rain or a severe storm.

South Asian (Hindu and Indian) Traditions and Customs . .
Pre-wedding tradition: The Bride's hands and feet are painted with henna using an art form known as mehndi. Traditionally, the Bride's parents formally promise to give their daughter away and the Groom's parents must accept her as their son's wife before the wedding.
Wedding attire and jewelry: The Bride is presented with jewelry . . a bangle, called a choodha, and a chain of beads with a pendant (man-glasutra).
Ceremony: In some cases, the ceremony can actually last for several days. There are several rites during the ceremony, the most important being Sapta Padi, in which the Bride and Groom take seven steps together and make seven promises.
Reception and food: Vegetarian kabobs or curried beef or chicken. After the ceremony, family and friends may toss flower petals at the Bride and Groom to ward off evil.

Here's a great menu idea before and after a warm weather casual sunset wedding. Serve Mixed Fruit Chicken Salad before the ceremony and an assortment of fruit flavored sherbets and wedding cake after the ceremony. The chicken salad can be prepared the night before or the morning of the wedding and then served over a bed of mixed greens.
Mixed Fruit Chicken Salad
1/4 cup chopped pecans
4 cups chopped cooked chicken breasts
2 cups seedless red and green grapes, halved
1 - 11 ounce can of mandarin oranges
1 cup chopped fresh pineapple (or canned pineapple tidbits)
1/4 teaspoon salt
Serves 4- 6 people
Serve with Orange-Raspberry Vinaigrette
Recipe can be found at Southern Living Magazine, May 2012 issue

Know some "Baby Boomers" who are renewing their vows and you don't know what to give them as a gift?
Are you invited to the wedding of some "older folks," and you want to give them something that they will enjoy?
Are you invited to a "Jack and Jill" bridal shower for a mature couple who already has lots of "stuff"?
Do you know a Bride and Groom who love the 1950's and watch old TV shows on a regular basis?
This DVD can be ordered from The Country Store by calling 1-800-558-1013
