Did you just get engaged?
Before you assemble your "team" of bridesmaids take into serious consideration what they can and cannot afford financially. Are you asking them to buy plane tickets? Are you asking them to stay at a resort for 3 or 4 or 5 days? Are you asking them to buy expensive dresses or gowns? Are you asking them to have their hair done and/or their nails done plus purchase specific jewelry or shoes to match their gown?

Did you just get engaged?
We all know you are excited but don't make any wedding day decisions or sign any contracts for at least thirty days after your engagement has been announced.
Take a deep breath and relax.

Contrary to popular belief, one does not have to give "a diamond ring" to their "partner" be engaged to be married. There are many couples who choose not to give "a sparkling ring" or could not afford to give "a fancy ring" as part of the proposal or decision to get married.
Sometimes, just saying the words . ."Will You Marry Me" is enough.

Did you just get engaged over the holiday season?
Contrary to popular belief, creating a wedding or gift registry and buying a bridal gown are NOT the first two things that you do after the proposal.
Both of you need to take a deep breath and think about the commitment that you have just made and decide if are you ready to take the next step . . marriage.
Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to set a wedding date immediately.

Did you just get engaged?
Your bridal gown should NOT be the first thing that you shop for right after you are engaged.
You and your fiance' should discuss in length the following topics
before you shop for your wedding day attire.
(a) What type of wedding and/or reception do you want?
Ultraformal? Formal? Semiformal? or Casual/Informal?
(b) What season of the year (or month) do you want to get married in?
(c) Where do you want your ceremony and/or reception to take place?
Within 25 miles of your or his home? The city where you met or where you live now? Or far,
far away?
(d) Do you want a small, medium, large or an extravaganza wedding?
(e) Who is paying for the wedding? What is the budget?
There is a BIG difference between having a small, intimate wedding in your hometown and a destination wedding that involves passports, luggage and several bouquets.

It's engagement season, are you ready?
You should have a good idea if your fiancee' wants to select her own engagement ring or would she like to be surprised. And you should also know what you can afford to spend on a ring before you walk through the door of the jewelry store.

Did you just get engaged?
Congratulations on your engagement!
One of the first things that you should do after you receive your engagement is to go to your local or favorite jeweler and have your ring appraised, then ask to have the prongs checked or have the whole ring examined and then call an insurance agent about insuring it against damage, loss and theft.
This task is definitely something that you need to put on your "to do NOW" list.
