Did you just get engaged?  Contrary to popular belief there is NO specific engagement period, what works for one couple may not work for another.

If you were proposed to on New Year's Eve then your parents should be planning your engagement party or dinner or open house now because engagement announcements should take place within four to six weeks of the actual proposal.
