The rings should be taken out of the boxes right before the ceremony begins.

The Bride's engagement ring should be moved to the right hand right before she walks down the aisle so the wedding ring can be moved into place on the third finger of the left hand during the ceremony.  After the ceremony, the engagement ring is moved back to the third finger of the left hand,  The wedding ring is on the inside, closest to the heart.
