BUT . . if you know of a Bride who is habitually late or plans to be late to her wedding then by all means give her a watch as a bridal shower gift or an early wedding gift.
Brides and Grooms should not be late to their wedding. They should be in place and ready to "walk down the aisle" at the time stated on their wedding invitation. There is nothing "cute or clever" about asking your guests to wait 30 or 60 minutes unless it involves a emergency.
I will never forget this scenario . . fifteen minutes before the ceremony is supposed to begin the Groom's Mother discovered that the Ring Bearer's pillow that she bought for $2 at a yard sale was missing. It was determined that her grandson, the Ring Bearer, left the pillow at the house where he was changing into his formal wear. So the boy's Grandfather was asked to go get the the Ring Bearer's pillow. If the wedding rings were attached to the missing pillow, I can truly understand why someone had to go back and get the pillow but the wedding rings were in the Best Man's pocket. The wedding was delayed over sixty minutes.
