One of the easiest and most economical receptions that you can host is a "desserts only" or afternoon tea party.  You can bake an assortment of drop cookies, bar cookies, pies and cupcakes OR you can order an assortment of fine pastries from your favorite bakery.  An assortment of hot teas can be served with iced tea, lemonade, and coffee.

And don't forget to tell your guests that a full meal is not being served by stating "Desserts Only" or "Tea Party" on the reception invitation.
