Do we have to have witnesses at our wedding ceremony?

The State of Florida does NOT require a witness or witnesses.  I prefer having at least one adult witness the ceremony and sign the Marriage License.

May I suggest the North Jetty Park (near Nokomis Beach Park) or the South Jetty Park (near The Crow's Nest Restaurant).  You will need to obtain a "beach wedding permit" from the Sarasota County Parks and Recreation Department if you wish to have a ceremony at these locations.

One of the easiest and most economical receptions that you can host is a "desserts only" or afternoon tea party.  You can bake an assortment of drop cookies, bar cookies, pies and cupcakes OR you can order an assortment of fine pastries from your favorite bakery.  An assortment of hot teas can be served with iced tea, lemonade, and coffee.

And don't forget to tell your guests that a full meal is not being served by stating "Desserts Only" or "Tea Party" on the reception invitation.
