One of the easiest, most efficient, and least expensive receptions that a Bride and Groom can host is a "bubbly and desserts" reception.  This type of reception can be held after lunch and before dinner (3PM) or after dinner (730PM - 10PM).

The bubbly can be as simple as lemon-lime soda or ginger ale or carbonated cider . . and the dessert can be as simple as an assortment of homemade cookies or small fruit tarts from the bakery.

And don't forget to add "Desserts Reception" to the right hand corner of your invitation.
