The custom or Mothers and Grandmothers handing down heirlooms . . such as jewelry or antique clothes, fabric or trimmings . . to the bride-to-be is worldwide and often fulfills the "something old" requirement for a traditionally minded bride.  Even remnants of a treasure can help personalize your new bridal ensemble.  For instance, old lace can be rescued from a tattered gown and used to trim a veil or the neckline of a new bridal gown.  A broken necklace or broken earrings can make a beautiful and sentimental finishing touches when glued to a handmade drawstring bridal bag or silk wedding shoes.
