A destination wedding is defined as a wedding that takes place over fifty (or more) miles from the Bride's home town or the Groom's home town or the Bride's parents' home town or the Groom's parents' home town.

For example:  The Bride lives and works in the Philadelphia area.  The Groom lives in the Philadelphia area but travels extensively for his work.  The Bride's parents live in the Portland, Maine area.  The Groom's parents live in the Indianapolis, Indiana area.  The wedding is taking place at a resort in the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland area so it is considered a destination wedding.
