How many slices of cake can I get from a single layer cake?

The amount of slices depends on two things . .
(1) The width of the slice. Is it going to be the standard one inch slice or a generous three inch slice?
(2) The shape of the cake. Is it going to be a round cake, a heart shape cake or a square?
Taking the above two elements into consideration, the answer is 12 to 15 slices on a 9 or 10 inch cake.
Keep in mind when ordering a cake . . it is better to have an extra slice or two than not enough.
